I have a piece of equipment that has a 60mm x 60mm 0.10A RDM6025S fan inside it that needs replacing as its as noisy as anything and sounds like it will fall apart at any moment.
My question is that Amazon have a 60mmx60mm fan that looks the same but is rated as 0.18A whereas the original is 0.10A so does anyone know if this will make a difference?
The 0.18A version is £6 cheaper than the 0.10A version on Amazon at least so I was wondering if it will do.
If it makes any difference the equipment its going into is an old CCTV hard disk unit.
Many Thanks

Both current loadings are trivially low. So long as the connector is the same I'd go with the cheaper one unless the possible extra noise level (I'm guessing it will be higher) would be an issue.0

Possibly, depends on the supply electronics. Power dissipated is a squared function of the current. As you are nearly doubling the current you are asking the control electronics to dissipate nearly four times more energy.

Noisy fans can often be revived by oiling them.
Most fans have a circular label over the end of the central shaft. Remove the label and if there is a rubber or plastic plug underneath remove that too.
Put a drop of oil in the cavity and then reassemble. Some new adhesive tape (having cleaned the surface with meths) instead of the label should prevent oil leakage.
I've found this to be effective on old fans that have become noisy...and it's free!0 -

Thats the one - its £11 including postage. I'll try oiling the existing one first.
Thanks for all the help so far.0 -

Min order £10 for free postage on Farnell, that's a 0.2A (2.4W) Fan as well and it's a 3 pin, I think the other is a 2 pin.Science isn't exact, it's only confidence within limits.0
