I agree. When I have transferred DDs to another bank, the payee has effectively cancelled the DD in that it has disappeared from my DD list at the original bankIf the supplier uses the Direct Debit system correctly, they can (should?) effectively cancel the DD
If the payer had cancelled the DD at his/her bank, couldn't this be reported as a fraudulent transaction unless the payee has given prior notice to the payer under the DD guarantee?A supplier can also reinstate a DD (cancelled by a payer with their bank) if they feel it is reasonable and necessary (but time limits do apply; I think it's 3 months)
