Hi!!!!
Inherited a pc from my brother, which was nice. However the copy of XP that`s installed on it isn`t genuine, and i`m wondering if there is a cheap (free? ) way to get it sorted.
Also, my copy of windows media player auto updated and now has shut me out without a validation code, which I don`t have due to not having any xp discs.
Any suggestions / help gratefully received.

Won't help him at all.
It just allows you to download updates, even if your copy of XP isn't genuine.
Not sure how Media Player "auto updated" as WMP 11 won't install unless your copy is genuine or modified.0 -
Use the WGA method to buy a new licence it is the cheapest way unless you intend on buying a qualifying peice of hardware and buy an OEM licence. as the retail version is very espensive when you consider the other options.0

Thanks for all your help with this.
Is there an alternative that I can use instead of Windows Media Player for loading music from cd`s onto my pc and then onto my mp3 player?
Again, all help appreciated.
