Not sure if this helps but more and more companies stipulate that you have to take one block of ten consecutive days off each year - it's an anti-fraud measure (the idea being that anything you might be up to would be dug up with someone covering your work for that long). It's common in finance, particularly.0

OK maybe I read it wrong,
its looks like it might be 3 days + every Sat.
4 days a week that's min statutory holidays of 5.6 weeks*4 = 22.4 days.
if he takes a week of he uses 4 days of the 22.4.
we need clarification what these 3 weeks are, in days off might do.0 -

Also some roles are seen risky and companies make you take two consecutive weeks.

Thank you all for your replies, he/I think I need to ask a few more questions.
To clarify he works;
Week 1 - 10-1600 Mon/Tues/Thurs and 05-11 or 1300 Sat
Week 2 - 10-1600 Mon/Thurs/Fri and 05-11 or 1300 Sat
He was told yesterday he had to book 3 weeks, I don't think they clarified how many days the week would consist of.0 -
I've had jobs in the financial industry in the past where we had to take a block of 2 weeks for security reasons but he works in a warehouse for a retail store so less likely to be that0

Find out how much holiday he gets having to book 3 weeks should not be all the holidays, leaving at least 10 days for odd day booking and closures.0

As I understand it, and has been calculated above, he's entitled to 5.6 weeks holiday. This is statutory for everyone and cannot be reduced although bank holidays can be included as part of the 5.6 weeks
He works 4 days a week so thats 4 x 5.6 = 22.4 days.
In hours (if his leave can be taken in hours rather than days) this equates to 134.4 hours (134 hours 24 minutes)
So, (working in days to keep it simple) if he needs to book 3 weeks off, then he books off 3 x 4 days = 12 days.
He then has 10.4 days remaining. However, if the employer closes on the bank holidays and your husband is due to work then he will likely be expected to use a holiday to cover the time off.
There are 8 bank holidays in 2015.
He needs to ask his employer exactly what entitlement they are giving him. If possible get this in writing. From there he can make his arguments for/against.[SIZE=-1]To equate judgement and wisdom with occupation is at best . . . insulting.
