A bar of soap worth £2 from a French shop that opened near us. It was "free" as I had spent £8 on a natural bath sponge (sustainably harvested apparently). The shop is a store front for their mail order business but it's one of those beautiful places where everything smells and looks wonderful (think Ocittaine but without being pretentious). If I could have justified it I would have spent loads.
As for spending £8 on a sponge.....the OH likes them for the shower and has been spending £3-4 for each that have lasted about a month before disintegrating. Chap in the shop explained that the secret is to thoroughly rinse after using, squeeze out as much water as humanly possible and then putting them somewhere to thoroughly dry until the next use (so don't leave in the shower itself!!). I like it when some explains what to do so you don't have to buy things again too quickly.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe and Old Style Money Saving boards.
