Cant install / uninstall

Further to the saga of trying to uninstall Zone Alarm and Real Player and getting the "windows has encountered an error" message, it does the same if I'm trying to install.
Seems to be telling me that win32 (or W32 cant remember which) has an error.
Have I somewhere along the line deleted something I shouldnt?
How can I correct this as it's driving me nuts!?
Thanks in advance

You cant install or uninstall?
Did you delete the folders for real player and zone alarm? If so these folders will have contained data to uninstall. If you have just deleted the folders without uninstalling first you wont be able to uninstall.
You got XP?
Also, real player is useful as some websites ONLY use the .ram format.
I hate real player as its a horrible piece of software but I need it to listen to radio1 online.
http://www.free-codecs.com/download/Real_Alternative.htm - Real Alternative, its small, its compact, its not buggy and it doesnt use half or your RAM.
Cant suggest something to replace Zone Alarm.......I also think this is one nasty piece of software. But thats just from personal experience. I suppose Zone Alarm does protect peoples p.c's so it cant be that bad. I'm just against firewall/anti-virus software protection. Think I just like to live dangerously.

LOL!
No, it wont let me even run the network set up file, just comes up with an error!
Just wondering if somewhere down the line crap cleaner or something may have deleted a file that I need to run install and uninstall stuff.....

aaaah. U use CCleaner. Open it and goto 'Tools' at top.

Right, that worked!
Still dont understand why not doing it normally, do I need to run XP sp2 again?0 -
I'm not sure why its not doing it 'normally' too.
Goto windows update and see if theres any critical patches to be installed.
Was the install/uninstall problem just with real and zone or does this apply for everything?0 -
It applied to everything, but have now uninstalled (successfully!) sp2 and it's all working ok.
will reinstall and see if ok.0 -
oh cool. Quick find me another problem or I've got no excuse not to do the bathroom painitng. :rotfl:0

Zone alarm messed up my settings, I was left with a right mess after I uninstalled it....I had to use my restore discs to get everything back how it should have been.
