Road Angel sat nav compulsery subscription

I bought a Road Angel sat nav but found out that to get it up and running you need to commit to a £49 a year fee for updates. I had to set up a direct debit to enable me to get the "free" speed camera updates which they inform me they will take out of my account on January 20th.
Is there any way I can cancel this as they say "Road Angel subscriptions are for a minimum period of 12 months from the first payment taken ?

The RA is an awesome peice of kit and well worth the subs.
If you wish to cancel contact them, cancel the DD with your bank what ever you want.
