Correct reporting of an accident?

Scaremongering.Of course you will have to report it regardless of a claim or not. One of the questions you will be asked when taking out insurance is "have you had any accidents, claims or convictions". You have now had an accident and failure to notify them of it may void any future insurance if not declared.
Were the op and her relative to decide to keep it in the family that is where it would end! (A family matter)0 -
Thank you all so much for the responses.
I have a feeling I will be claiming from her insurance, she had no idea about the cost of a repair like this. She was expecting £50-100.... the innocence of youth.
A neighbour reversed into the back passenger door of my car about 15 months ago and the quotes came in at between £1600 - £2200 so it is a significant repair.0 -
There are always shades of grey.Do you call your insurer every time you scratch your car, nudge a bollard or kerb a wheel?
Is a GB sticker a "modification"? What about having commercial slogans for your employer emblazoned down each side of the car?
Is some scrote bending your wiper arm in the middle of the night "loss" or "damage"? What about a couple of grand's worth door that's gone through a third-party insurance claim?
I'd suggest that, if there's a line to be drawn between frivolous over-notification of trivialities and failing in following utmost good faith, it falls somewhere into the middle of those two.0
