  • Actually the best time to assess how accurate the DD calculation was would be after 12 months from it being recalculated. As that was only December I still have some time to go.

But its still an increase and if she's already in credit the DD should in fact be lowered, not raised. Why should EDF be keeping £155 of the OP's money.., AND increasing the DD. Or trying to.

I realise that it's cheaper to pay by DD, but I don't allow EDF carte blanche to dip into my bank a/c; I'm afraid I don't trust them not to whack up DD payments, as and when they feel like it.

I read our meter once a month, go on line and then get the actual amount we owe for that month and then pay it. I don't suppose EDF like that much, but too bad; it suits me and I'm the paying customer. That way we pay for exactly what we use; no more ,no less.
A cunning plan, Baldrick? Whatever it was, it's got to be better than pretending to be mad; after all, who'd notice another mad person around here?.......Edmund Blackadder.

I had a nice surprise from EDF yesterday. I joined in November and submit readings every month. After sending latest reading I got a message that despite having a debit balance of £126 they calculated my annual usage and would reduce the monthly DD from £111 to £95.

I must say I've had very good service from EDF in the past and it was a relief to switch back to them from Scottish Power.
