Fixed Term Contract vs Trying to get a mortgage
FirstTimeBuyerHelpNeeded
I have six months left on my FTC and am hopeful to take up a permanent position between then! But wish to get a mortgage now with partner who has permanent contract.
Does anyone have any info on whether having a FTC would hinder my chances of getting a mortgage with my partner?
Any help/advice would be much appreciated!!!

Fixed term contract of employment
We got a mortgage, albeit in 2013, with me on a FTC and other half full time perm contract. we used a broker and remember there was a smaller pool of mortgage providers who would lend. Also there was a stipulation on our mortgage that had to have either 12 months of FTC contracts in total or over 12?months to go on current one.0 -
Has the contract been renewed at least once, or is it your first?
If it's your first you're going to have a limited pool of lenders, if any.
Definitely one for an independent mortgage broker.I am a mortgage broker. You should note that this site doesn't check my status as a Mortgage Adviser, so you need to take my word for it. We got a mortgage whilst I was technically unemployed (awaiting going back to work after a period of unpaid leave for university) and whilst my partner was about to reduce his hours.
We used a broker (London and Country) and there was only 1 lender who would lend to us. This was a very competitive rate though so we went with it.
This was a remortgage though.0
