My apologies. I was clearly confused by you saying that you would've braked...The fact I know there was a car behind me, a car to my left and a central reservation to my right would imply I know what's around me.matttye wrote:but I didn't have time to check how close the person behind me was.0 -

I don't see what's so hard to understand. I know there was a car behind me and I do check my mirrors every 10 or so seconds but at the time that the car on my left almost turned into me I don't know how close the car behind me was.
I may have checked how close it was 5 seconds before this happened but a lot can happen in 5 seconds. For all I know I was being tailgated at the time. I had to make a split second decision and, knowing there was a car behind me and I had space to my right, decided to swerve to the right. It worked out. What will your verse be?

300 mph - 300 mirror checks per hour, so 1 every 12 seconds.
Could have changed since I did the training, things often do...
Only takes a couple seconds for someone to sneak up behind (In defence of mattye).0 -
...and how many at more normal speeds...?JustinR1979 wrote: »300 mph - 300 mirror checks per hour, so 1 every 12 seconds.0 -

No you wouldn't. You would be slowing down progressively, not travelling at 30mph for 4 seconds then stopping instantly......0 -

Indeed, which is demonstrated by the difference of 30/35mph having a difference of hitting someone at 5/20mph or whatever it is.
I guess they still go on about this on speed awareness workshops, is quite a good point
