Online Scrappie ?

Does anyone have any recommendations for a decent online scrapyard ? Looking for a rear wiper motor, and I refuse to pay over £70 for a new one :)

My local scrappie hasn't got any in stock, so I thought I'd look online. The first couple I came across had no physical address listed, and only a mobile phone number, which to me sounds dodgy. Does anyone have any experience of a reliable site where I can source second hand parts for a reasonable price ?

The issue with parts like that is the weight. For the price of the postage a local scrapyard may supply the same part.

Must be more than 1 local scrapyard?

Avoid any site thats only got a mobile and no address.

  • The main local scrapyard closed down, damn shame that it was a real old fashioned place you could wander round in yer wellies, H&S devotees not wanted.

Found a few bits i needed on the Bay, contacted a couple of rip off people, but then a smaller yard had exactly what i wanted at a sensible price, everyone's happy.

Thanks for your input folks. ForgotMyName, yes the postage is looking steep on eBay - think I'll hold out until my local scrappie has one in.

G & S - I used to have a place like that, it was heaven. In you go with your tools, clamber over cars stacked 3 high, one on top of another, cannibalise whatever you wanted, then pay about tuppence ha'pny for the parts you'd taken off. And as you say, H&S be damned.

Ah, the good old days ....
  • You say your in Central Scotland, Fallons still have a place over Coatbridge way. I've seen me travelling over to Sports Car Breakers at Newbridge too.
Both let you have a good look round.

Alternatively, have you stripped the old one incase it's just needing a clean out?

Thanks Scotsman, I may well take a trip over to Fallons, I wasn't aware of them. And yes, I have had a fiddle with the old one - found a video on YouTube with some good suggestions, but to no avail sadly. But thanks for the tip.
