Shared Ownership

I would be pleased to learn if there is any assistance in selling a shared ownership property. I have contacted the Housing Association but they have not been very helpful they do not have a list of potential buyers, therefore I to find my own buyer, which means paying an Estate agents costs. I thought the scheme was to assist first time buyers on to the property ladder, it seems that moving onto to the second rung is extremely difficult. Is there a correct way to proceed, or is this scheme now on the scrap heap, like many other political incentives. ?

Notify the housing association in writing and confirm that they don't want to market the property themselves. They usually do want to.
If they don't want to then you can just put it on the open market. It will take longer to find a buyer though, shared ownership isn't in huge demand.
You will probably have to pay fees to the Housing Association to have the property valued etc.
How much of the house do you own? And when did the shared ownership start? I think there have been several schemes over the decades?Changing the world, one sarcastic comment at a time.0 -
That's really odd - when I had a shared ownership house, they "marketed it for a month" (!) when they did bog all, then I was allowed to put it on the open market. I had to get 3 estate agents to value it then they chose the middle value.:rotfl:0
