                    good morning ,
a month ago I bought a Mondeo 2008 (122000 miles ) for £2600 (cash) from direct car and £30 with my visa .
4 weeks later the cambelt and camshaft broke with the fuel pump belt . On the service book doesn't figure anywhere when the cambelt has been changed . When I called the garage to know if they can take it back to repair it I had this answer " If you didn't take the extra warranty on the car , we can't do anything for you " they ignored my email and the rest .
my question please it's :
what you advised me to do ?
thank you

Oh dear.. Going to be a tricky one.
The car should be fit for its purpose. But its due a cambelt change and you bought it knowing there was no history of it being done. You really should have got it done right away.
They could argue it was due a belt change and you neglected to change it.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0

Did they agree to service it before it left them and if so, what sort of service? i.e. should they have changed the belt as part of you buying it?What if there was no such thing as a rhetorical question?0

Not much use to you now but useful to others-

good afternoon, my service was due in May this year . On the service log book doesn't figure anywhere that the cambelt was changed .
I just come back from the ford garage where my car is located : need new camshaft , new valves , new cambelt I miss something I am sure ...cost £1500 . the guy said to me the cambelt should have been changed around 100000 miles0

£1500 to fix a Ford engine with those miles? Surely a low mileage recon would be worth considering.0

As above, I would get a used engine and get the belts changed before its fitted.
I wouldnt have driven it knowing it probably had not had the belt replaced. I would have haggled the new belt into the deal.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0

ok thank you . I was watching for a new engine but I would end up to the same price :-( we never know with what I would end up0

            Whats the change interval?
The hope is it hasn't bent a rod or a few or damaged a piston. The price will soon rocket then.
It'd be cheaper to buy a write off (rear ended maybe), switch the engine and dispose off the rest.0

hi arcon .... I come back from the ford garage 30 mn ago and you are right .... it's damaged all piston . the ford garage propose me a complete remanufactured new engine , fitted £32000

hi the end of the story . the garage fitted my car with a second hand engine bought on part gateway , I had to change the belt . it cost me around £1600 at the end0
