Beko Ceramic Hob Issue

Hi all,

Me and my partner bought a new electric cooker in January as our old one died.

We got an electric Beko oven that had an electric ceramic hob.

The cooker is working fine and its great but over the last few weeks we have noticed the hob playing up.

Basically if we put it on the highest setting 5 or 6 which we use to boil rice the hob seems to cut off.

It will heat up and then after a few minutes the heat will disappear (you can tell as the red element fades away) and then it seems to kick back in, to my knowledge this shouldn't happen as you can boil water as you need a constant heat from the hob.

It doesn't seem to trip out on the lower setting 1-4 and it happens on all 4 hobs, even when we are only using one hob.

I've made sure we are using the correct pans etc and only cleaned the hob with a damp cloth as stated in the manual.

I just want to make sure its an manufacturers fault really before I call out a Beko engineer because if they say its not I'll get charged £70.

Just wondered if anyone else has had this problem and can confirm if the cooker is at fault.

Many Thanks.

    There is no fault.

The thermostat on the element is cutting out to keep the element at a constant(ish) high temperature.

    This is normal behaviour.

  • Yes, entirely normal.

yes the Hob is working as it should. But get rid of it and buy a better make before it does start given you problems.:rotfl:
  • Thank you for all the replies guys. I wont be called an engineer out and will be saving me and my girlfriend £70.

sparky260500 - I would have bought a more premium brand but we only have space for a 50cm wide oven and none of the premium brands make them at that width.

From what I've read Beko is reliable for a budget brand.
