Car finance

My credit rating is 939 and I'm not sure if my rating is good enough to be accepted for car finance.
I don't want to apply until I'm pretty sure I get accepted. As i know it goes against me if I apply and get turned down
Can anyone help?

Ill tell you right now your rating of 939 isn't worth squat.
  • The number means nothing. What matters is your credit history. Have you ever had a credit card? Used it? Paid it in full every month? Missed a payment? Had a payday loan? Defaulted?

There are lots and lots of different factors.
Credit 'Score' - Don't buy the credit 'score' that Experian, Equifax and Noddle want to sell you. It's an arbitrary number that means nothing when it comes to applying for credit.

ALWAYS HAVE A DIRECT DEBIT SET UP FOR THE MINIMUM PAYMENT ON YOUR CREDIT CARDS, REGARDLESS OF WHETHER YOU PLAN TO LOGIN AND PAY EACH MONTH.

since the sole purpose of a good credit record is to use it, being afraid to use it rather negates the whole point.
  • i bought a car on finance I have no idea what my credit rating was probably not great as i have stupidly missed credit card payments and gone past the limit in the past. i was also 19 when i got the car..it was through peugot finance services .

I have a credit card now, I've had it 6months and never missed a payment on it. I pay it in full every month.

But I've missed payments on other things although the last one was over a year ago

Did whoever gave you a "credit rating" of 939 know what you want to borrow money for, or know how much you earn?

If not then it is about as much use as a chocolate poker.

I don't think being turned down makes any difference, applying for a loan and the associated search may have a small effect but not worth worrying about unless you apply for lots of loans in a short period - lenders don't want to take on desperate customers (apart from pay day lenders and even they are becoming more choosy).
loose does not rhyme with choose but lose does and is the word you meant to write.

    You have been miss informed.

Apply and see if you get accepted or not.

See back here in a 6 month's time asking how to get out of vehicle finance early!

  • Make sure you have a good credit history, that's what matters.
    All the best.
