Kindle Fire: nobookmarks history downloads etc

Hi,
I've got a kindle fire which has suddenly lost functionality
in the Silk browser. Looking at any webpage, there is an icon
top left of 3 horizontal lines. Before, if I tapped on it, I got
options of Most Visited, Bookmarks, Reading List, Downloads,
History. These are now all grayed out and cannot be accessed.
I've gone into settings and done a factory reset, but it's just
the same. Does anyone know the solution to this?
