Don't all laugh at once. I bought the super ketone cleanse and red berry offer on a free trial(just pay postage). I've been told by my doctor to stop taking it. I bought the offer on Sunday 25th January. I received the goods on Wednesday 28th January. When I cancelled today, I was told my credit card has been charged £79.95 today as it's the 14th day of the trial. I assumed my first day was when I received the goods. The point of this speel is, read the small print and don't be gullible like me. Should listen to Martin more often.

If they are a UK company then the 14th day (as far as your cancellation rights under the Consumer Contracts Legislations is concerned) is measured from the day the goods are received. The Consumer Contracts Regulations are an implementation of an EU directive, so any EU company should have to follow this too. If the company is from outside the EU though they won't have to follow this.0 -

Don't forget that the right of cancellation won't apply for two reasons.
1/ It sounds as if the OP has already started taking the tablets (told by their doctor to stop taking them), and
2/ There is an exclusion in the reg's for goods that are liable to expire rapidly (which might cover tablets), and also for goods that have been unsealed and can't be returned due to hygiene concerns).0 -
True, I hadn't twigged that the tablets had been used.0

I donlt think the OP wanted to return the tablets she wanted to cancel the automatic monthly billing that has now been instigated.0

And by the wording from OP's post, they cancelled it on the same day in which payment was due "When I cancelled today, I was told my credit card has been charged £79.95 today"
So yea, probably all legit0 -
This practice has been reported in the news today;

This is one of the biggest cons out there - search these forums and you'll find many examples. I can only guess that very few people actually take these pills for any extended period, the aim of the sellers is to rope people in to a monthly billing cycle. Even if they get only the first payment of 79.95 they are quids in.
This is not criminal - but it should be. It is taking complete advantage of innocent consumers.0
