Only rumours

It's only rumours at the moment but I've seen more than one suggestion that come the next RM price changes they may be adding a large letter rate to the airmail option. I certainly hope so, I have a number of very small items , 30g packed and having to send them as a packet is incredibly expensive. Alternatively I would hope they go back to the smaller weight band options for packets that we had over Christmas for airmail items.

I also hope they keep the larger dimensions for small packets UK inland that they are currently offering, otherwise I'll have to migrate back to MyHermes for the majority of my larger items.

There is a consultation underway, so it's more than a rumour.

If you support it. Though personally I think it's a formality that it will be introduced.

That's great news - looks like it's going to be brought in in March ?
An international large letter would be perfect for my items. I wonder what the pricing will be ?

More likely in April with the other price adjustments.

I've already deserted the Royal Mail for UK parcels in favour of MyHermes. No, they're not perfect but neither are the Royal Mail. They are cheaper, come with tracking numbers, have larger weight bands, are not so flipping uptight about sizes (other than the generous maximum obviously) plus if the item is too heavy - or it's raining out ;) - I can get them to collect for another 20p. Plus if I do go to the parcel shop myself, the longest I ever have to 'queue' for is a couple of moments while the person in front discusses the merits of 2 types of cigarettes. What's not too like? :D

I agree with this. The tracking is by far the most important thing for me. If a customer wants to know when the item will be delivered then I can normally work it out from where it is. There is also no arguing over items not arriving.

Its only large letters and smaller international items I send now by Royal Mail. Have been in Post Office plenty of times when people have walked out when they have found out just how much that light but big parcel is going to cost to send.
