Skint Student Needs Dental Work

I am a first year student currently studying an NHS course at uni to become a qualified nurse. Recently I have had a lot of bad tooth pain, which has put me in an unbearable mood which is unfair to both myself, flatmates, friends and patients I'm caring for on placement. I'm in so much pain at the moment I can't sleep and nothing is helping.
It's time to accept I need a dentist however I've been putting it off as I both hate them and cannot afford any treatment.
I've used the emergency dentist twice now but there is no more they can do for me.
Being a skint student I was wondering if I was entitled to any cheaper dental work. Any suggestions would be deeply appreciated!
Thank you.

Is there a dental hospital near to you? The treatment given is from students ( don't panic it is all properly overseen and the students are nearly qualified dentists!) and is usually free. I would check this out in the first instance. Good luck, I feel your pain, toothache is really unpleasant .0

They take student finance into consideration but I had that and a pt job last year and still got full help.0 -
Take a wander up Union St in Plymouth, shouting "the navy aren't very good" tonight.
Voila - no teeth to worry about.0 -
Hi
You are eligible to apply for an NHS exemption certificate.
The NHS Low Income Scheme provides financial help to people not exempt from charges, but who may be entitled to full or partial help with healthcare costs if they have a low income. Anyone can apply as long as they don’t have savings or investments over the capital limit. In England, the capital limit is £16,000 (or £23,250 if you live permanently in a care home).
Help is based on a comparison between your weekly income and assessed requirements at the time the claim is made. Entitlement broadly follows Income Support rules to decide how much, if anything, you have to pay towards your healthcare costs, including dental treatment.
My daughter is also an NHS student in receipt of a bursary and she applied and is exempt from any charges.
Also if you seek emergency NHS treatment then you may be able to get a refund .
Sorry cannot post a link as new but just check out NHS Low income scheme via your search engine
Hope this helps0 -
Ask your parents to pay for it.0

Can you use that student scheme for braces purely for cosmetic reasons?0

kteara,
If you're referring to post 8, they are not student schemes - open to all
And they will exclude purely cosmetic treatments, etc0
