Phone unlock

I have finished my contract with tmobile and need to use my phone on another provider so I asked them to unlock. Said it would cost £20 which would be added to final bill. I never got the email they said they would send. Rang again and said they would send code within72 hours. They never did and final bill did not charge me. But how do I get phone unlocked? Does it need unlocking get? The phone is Samsung Galaxy Ace 2? Can anyone advise please?

Take it to a shop displaying the unlocking sign. Where I used to live in Kingston there's one in the mall which charges £5.

Buy an unlock code on ebay. Should be a lot less than £20.
