Return of goods?

I have purchased some mirrors for a motorcycle, upon fitting, after covering a handful of miles, one mirror collapsed. After a close inspection, a screw I had tightened up during assembly had fallen out.
It was tight, I have been repairing bikes for years, a grub screw on a mirror wasn't an issue. I did it tight enough to hold the mirror in place but not so tight as to strip the thread.
I know the goods are faulty, but the mirrors came with adapters to fit 2 sizes of bars, mine being the smallest diameter of the two. I have no idea where these sleeves to adapt for bigger bars are. Should this affect my ability to return it?
