Holidays ideas with a young toddler

Our daughter will be 2 in July and we are looking to get away anytime between end of March and October.

Originally, we were going to do the Thomas day out and camp locally but it's looking quite expensive as it falls on a bank holiday.

So we have a budget of max £1000 but that has to cover everything, food, travel, accommodation and any activities for all three of us.

Any ideas? A UK holiday seems to be as expensive as one abroad, so either option.

We used to take our little ones to Butlins.
  • Warmwell in Dorset has self cater chalets, spread out around a central pool, entertainment centre (OK, a stage and bar!) etc. when i last went a few years back, it had a dry ski slope!

    short drive to Bournemouth.

  • Years ago we took our 18 mth old daughter camping in Brittany with Keycamp at the end of August. It was out of high season for them so we got a good price on the ferry and the campsite. She loved the campsite - there was a little farm, a lovely pool and the whole place was very child friendly. Plus you are self-catering, so that cuts down the price.
"Harry, I'm going to let you in on a little secret. Every day, once a day, give yourself a present. Don't plan it. Don't wait for it. Just let it happen. It could be a new shirt at the men's store, a catnap in your office chair, or two cups of good, hot black coffee."
  • I'd forgotten about Park Dean. Butlins is working out really expensive.

I'll have a look at Keycamp, there's also Euro Camp isn't there

    Thanks everyone

Yes, and also look at booking the campsites direct - in recent years I've noticed it becoming cheaper to book direct. Usually the ferry/tunnel is a bit more but the campsite is a lot cheaper. But if you avoid the peak holiday season (July-August) it should be quite easy to get a cheap deal either way.
