Confused ESA, PIP, IS, Carers???

  • Ring the jobcentre and tell them you are a carer. You cannot be made to attend if you don't want to if you have caring responsibilities

    The OP does have to attend .....the interviews are not to try and get carers into work, they are a general interview with carers being asked to attend once every 6 months.

    Update:- I attended the work focus interview, they basically just wanted to input me on their system as they held very little info about me, I was only there around 15 minutes.
    They needed to know all of hubby's benefits and our family situation at home i.e who lives at the house, she said they won't expect me to talk about seeking work but could support me if I ever wanted to go down that route. She also just wanted to make sure we get the benefits we are entitled to.

    As for my Carers Allowance my backpay is about to be paid tomorrow with my first normal amount this coming Monday.

    We haven't heard from ESA about hubbies payments so not sure if they've factored in the carers/enhanced disability premiums.
