I will try that recipe as I really find a ham so versatile.
Any more tasty chicken or beef or fish ideas out there too?0 -
Ive just discovered you can do jacket spuds in the slow cooker
Why did no one tell me this before!! Have only had it for 25 years.
Hate putting the oven on for a couple of hours just for jackets and don't like them done in microwave so now my slow cooker will be getting even more use.
Got a lovely recipe for chicken veronique which is so easy if you are interested?Make £10 a Day Feb .....£75.... March... £65......April...£90.....May £20.....June £35.......July £600 -

(he points to some plastic cows on the table) are very small; those (pointing at some cows out of the window) are far away...:D:D

I agree with the above post. It's very naughty of you to say we can cook jacket potatoes in the slow cooker and then fail to tell us numpties how to do it.0

I didn't know you could do jackets in there either. Found these instructions if they are of any use to anyone
Prep:10min › Cook:4hr30min › Ready in:4hr40min. !!!!! the potatoes with a fork several times, then rub potatoes with olive oil, sprinkle with salt and wrap tightly in foil. Place the potatoes into a slow cooker, cover, and cook on High for 4 1/2 to 5 hours, or on Low for 7 1/2 to 8 hours until tender.

Well I have only cooked them once.
Pricked all over, rubbed with olive oil, sprinkled with salt.
Did five large ones and stood them on their ends.
High for 5 hours........was lovely!
According to instructions, you can do them for 8 to ten hours on low amd also get good results.Make £10 a Day Feb .....£75.... March... £65......April...£90.....May £20.....June £35.......July £600 -

My DD does jacket potatoes in her sc but I have yet to try them. . She wraps each one in foil and stands them on scrunched up foil over the base. She puts them in after breakast and they are ready for teatime. I really must get round to doing them myself."If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. A recipe I've tried recently is a "fakeaway" lamb kebab - I don't eat meat, but hubby loved it !
Mix 500g Lean lamb mince with
1tsp dried oregano,
1/2 tsp dried italian herb mix
1tsp garlic powder,
1 tsp onion powder,
1/4 tsp cayenne pepper,
1tsp salt and 1/2 tsp black pepper.
Mix thoroughly and shape into a meat loaf shape. Success is all in the mixing so either use a blender or get your hands stuck in and make it lovely and smooth. Whack it a few times and take your anger out on it to get rid of any air pockets too. This will avoid a dry, crumbly disaster!
Slice up a couple of onions very finely & pop in the bottom of the pot. Add the kebab meat to the top of the onions. Cook for about 3hrs on high. Slice very finely & serve with all your favourite kebab accompaniments"Science is a wonderful thing if one does not have to earn one's living at it" Einstein 19510
