I'm stumped by something and hope that others can help me out!

On my 'new' laptop I access my BT email vai BT.com but can only see a limited number of my items in the inbox. I can't see a way to access other pages with older mail i.e. from one month ago and back.

I've checked in settings and options and can't find anything. Does anyone have any idea where to find this please?

Think I've sussed it - seems I need to check a setting on our other laptop which brings mail in through windows. It makes sense so will do that.

Thank you for asking & answering that question! I always wondered why I had so few emails in my online inbox. I must admit I did assume it was because I used outlook at home. Trying to find answers to things like this on BT's help pages is like looking for a well hidden needle in a very large haystack.

It's an option on the settings which says something like ' leave emails on the server' (close but not exact). It needs to be checked.

It made sense when the BT bloke told me, over the phone. I'm not at the windows email laptop until Tuesday as I'm 100 miles away. At least it made me relax about the 'lost emails'.

I did the 'live chat' thing and then the bloke rang me to explain it all, have to admit I'd have struggled with a written explanation.

Sounds to me like it's set up to use POP3, if you change it to IMAP emails will download to your email client and stay on the server to be read through webmail.

    How do I do this?

Outlook will allow other emails to come through but only if they are IMAP, can't see how to change mine.

    Here you go:

    bt.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/44917/~/bt-email%3A-what-are-the-settings-for-outgoing-and-incoming-mail-servers%3F

Set your incoming mail using the IMAP settings and your outing mail using the SMTP settings.

I am assuming it is BT mail (domestic grade) and not BT connect mail (business grade) as they handle mail differently.
Science isn't exact, it's only confidence within limits.
