Euro Car Parts - It pays to shop online!

I decided to service the car today (530D)
Looked at Euro Car Parts and identified the bits

Crosland Air Filter £14.10
Crosland Oil Filter 5.99
Tripe QX 5x30 Low Saps C3 Oil 5ltr £29.20 (x2 as I need 8.5ltrs)

Total £78-89

I made a note of all the ECP Ref numbers and popped in giving her a slip of paper with all the codes on.

Total price £108-98

She explained the prices are different online to instore to encourage more online ordering.
!!!!!!- I went back out to the car, ordered it as Click and Collect from the drivers seat, waited about 10 mins for a call back to say my order was ready and went back in a paid £78-89. :T

Absolutely right - I did the same when I bought a new battery.

    But they are not alone.

The same concept of 'cheaper on-line' applies to Travelodge, Premier Inn, Ibis, and many others.

In one Travelodge last year I made my online booking at the check in desk and saved £20.

Home Bargains and B&Q are another couple of examples.

Seems crazy, it wasn't the fact that it cost a little more but it was the AMOUNT more.
  • It's always been the way with ECP. Always order online for collection.
  • I've always used eBay for car parts, its even better recently with manufacturers like BMW having a parts store.

I hope you were still parked up or your £30.01 saving might have been more than wiped out with a fine. :D

Bit late now but crosland stuff is cheap.. Its the £shop equivalent.

You really should have stepped up a price level on those parts. Especially the oil filter.

8.5 litres of oil. What are you running? a 4ltre 7.5ton truck? :)

I sometimes wish I was when I want to go and buy a large item.
It's a BMW 530D. Ridiculous amount of oil but it is what it is.

I know the filters are cheap but they are built to a standard. If I were servicing at the BMW recommended intervals (19,000 miles) I would spend more but I change the oil at 10k miles which is about 4 to 5 monthly.

Thank heavens for the Pela 6000 is all I can say.

Ahh its the 3L truck :) With less carrying capacity. Same thing though they both drive the rear wheels :)

I didnt know that engine used 8.5 litres.

With the crosland i would say more built to a price rather than a standard.

Air filter, fair enough, but oil filter.. Please buy a better one next time.

ECP sell thru Amazon and are often cheaper than the ECP website
