Cheapest destinations for eating out

Factoring in the cost of getting there will make a huge difference to overall costs.
Costas are cheap to get too so that can put a few hundred extra into the eating out budget
Id recommend Costa del Sol too. Nerja down to Mijas Costa. Tapas @ 1euro. A family if 4 can easily eat for 16 euro inc a drink each.
We normally come off the beach @ lunch and have something in apartment. Something light, soup or pasta etc
In evening, tapas or hundreds of places doing el menu del dia from 6euro upwards.

I love Fish Alley too. There places to suit all pockets from cheap tapas bars to expensive steak Argentinian restaurants and loads of bars too. I can't remember the name of the place but there's a great Chinese restaurant opposite Moochers which does 3 course set menus for €5 each.0 -

I holidayed in Hanioti, Halkidiki on the Greek mainland last summer and was astounded at the good value for eating out in the local restaurants.
We are three adults (Mum, Dad and teenage daughter) and on average it was 35 euros for a main and drinks or 45 euros if we had a starter as well. Most places gave you a free desert ie melon or pancakes and that was even if you just had a main.
Prices in supermarkets were also very good for breakfast and lunch items as we were self catering.
We are returning again this summer as we loved the place so much.0 -
Thanks guys for all this advice. Very helpful. I like the idea of free tapas, hehe!! Also been looking online after reading some comments here and seen places also selling tapas for 1 Euro each. Amazing....
Looks like there are cheap places to eat and still good quality grub

Also, with self catering holidays, can you bring your own drink down to the entertainment? I remember the last self catering holiday we were at, we sneaked a wee bottle of vodka to the entertainment each night to save some money. But after, I thought, why did we do that, surely if its self catering, thats the whole point, you either bring your own or buy at the bar, lol. Or is that not the case?0

As others have said, the trick is to avoid the tourist traps and go where the locals do. Do that and its easy enough to find the cheap/ expensive places because as always we are bombarded with stats on cost of living etc.
I used to go regularly to Nerja due to family over wintering there and have to say I was never that impressed with the food there. Did used to venture out of the town and used to find a few much better places but then you have the drink -v- driving issues.0
