I have been given a pdf document which I need to make some changes to.
Is is possible to make changes to a pdf if you only have Adobe reader?
Is it possible to convert a pdf to a Word document so I can work on it?
Needed urgently for work but not sure if it can be done. New to the job so don't want to appear too helpless.
Any advice?
Many thanks

Sounds like you need to get hold of the original. PDF's are a display format by design not an editing format.

i have adobe reader 7.0.7 - if you right click on the text, you can 'select all', then copy and paste it into word to edit it. it may take some effort to make the layout the same afterwards though!:happyhear0

Hi barginboy,
Thanks for the link. sadly you are talking to someone who does not have much of a clue about computers. Which of the downloads would you recommend and as it says they are trial versions which can be unlocked by buying an activation code - could i use them or just look at them?
Would I need to download the exec files and the others shown?

ThanksThank you for this site :jNow OH and I are both retired, MSE is a Godsend0 -
Hi Meloncholly,
Tried this but it is a pretty large document and as you say, the formatting goes, as do the photos which were in it.
It is a technical manual.
Thanks though.Thank you for this site :jNow OH and I are both retired, MSE is a Godsend0 -
Hi, don't mean to jump in clueless but you said that it's job-related, so basically, you need to edit the document, like proof-reading or so? The changes can be made on pdf files but only with either one of the pdf editing programs someone mentioned earlier or with the real thing, meaning the full version of Adobe Acrobat (not just the Reader).
If I were you, there's nothing wrong in getting back to the people who gave you the job and ask them if they have the document in another edit-compatible format because you don't have Adobe Acrobat (sadly, most corporate jokers are so spoiled with their office software they think everybody's got it on their home computers).
If you freelance you may want to look into getting the professional version of Acrobat, not just the free reader. It's still the safest way to distribute documents without spreading viruses (question is for how much longer). If you're employed with them they should provide you with a copy for home use!
