Advice--incapacity entitlement

In approx 6 weeks i am due to go on half pay and my stat sick pay will stop at this point --26 wks.
I have been told by a friend that as SSP stops i should be able to then claim incapacity ben. in addition to half pay.
Anyone know more / able to confirm if this is accurate--we will just about manage if that is the case but if i only get half pay we are in touble

Yes I can confirm that is correct, once you are on half pay you are entitled to claim Incapacity Benefit, your employer should send you a form to start your claim.

been off work since end of september 06 and had 3 ops on my back and 2 bouts of infections to go with the surgery , only come out yesterday and was told about DLA. My sick pay was only half to start with and after it stopped I was advised to write to the employer to get extended pay which helps but isnt a lot the hospital gave me the number of my local CAB to get help on DLA but would this affect any payout I get from a compensation claim Im isuing against my employer ?
    Im not really mad...
