What is, or are the medical term and name for the condition where your upper top teeth and jaw stick out,
which goes more forward than your lower jaw?
Here is a picture.

Why? If you or you childs teeth are as bad as this it doesn't really matter what its called you just need to get to a dentist and get it sorted sooner rather than later.0

Actually this little one looks as if her lower jaw is too small rather than her top teeth stick out. This is retrognathia.
It looks like a skeletal rather than tooth based problem.
She would qualify for NHS treatment if the front teeth stick out more than 6mm but may need a hospital opinion.0 -
Overjet is when the upper teeth sit ahead of the lower jaw.
Mandibular retrognathism is when the lower jaw is less well developed that expected.
She would be referred to as a .Class II skeletal' orthodontically, guessing based on the picture.
None of this matters to a layperson ... And using these terms in conversation to a professional is not going to get you a different response. (This is usually why people ask such questions).0 -
Sticking-out teeth and an overbite!
But she's young. Hopefully she can still get them fixed.0 -
Yes it's called an overbite.
It does look a little like a skeletal issue (as someone has said.)
However, dentists and orthodontists can work wonders these days; my friend's daughter had an overbite much worse than this, and at 12 y.o. she had a brace, and about 18 months later, she looked completely different, and the teeth had come right back.worried_jim wrote: »!!!!!!..............?
Worried Jim that was a rather unpleasant remark. I think the girl is cute.No debt left now. Saved £111 in our sealed pot last year. And £272.13 this year! Also we have £2300 in savings. :j

I do hope that is not the photo of the child you are asking about.0

I think the pictures are from an orthodontist's website?0

Sorry to be pedantic this is NOT overbite. Overbite is related to how much the teeth overlap in the vertical dimension. Overjet is how related to how they overlap in the horizontal dimension. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/b/bc/Overjet-overbite.png/220px-Overjet-overbite.png
This young lady is a class two div 1 on a skeletal class two base. In other words she has increased overjet.

Wow, the girl looks so different after the orthodontic treatment
The third photo in the original post might be the OP's own photo, then? It's not the girl. The report button is for abusive posts, not because you don't like someone, or their opinions0
