i think most people know each others names on fb/twitter anyway and if they are that worried then why bother entering a comp in the first place

you give away a lot more details than just a name and initial

on a side note are we sure mse megan is safe - after all we know where she works and her first name

I have sent a PM asking if it means no winners should be listed, as well the IWIWIW section being closed and a couple of other threads removed.

Makes this site go down a lot. They might lose a few people as it is pretty much useless as you can only post competitions. Feel like i'm in prison on here.

I asked a few weeks ago as I usually post Sixtyplusurfers Winners' List and got the following reply....

But all winners names are published online so why was the Facebook winners thread shut down?

Can we get around it then by starting a new Facebook winners thread and list the links to the post where winners are named rather than publish the names themselves?

I started a thread once for winners that are announced in newsletters. They are not necessarily published online, but are available to anyone that receives the newsletter. So that thread will have to stop too.

And if I follow a URL, I can still access the name and first initial of a surname of a winner. It makes no sense unless you go 'nuclear' and ban all names, initials, URL's or even hints at where you can find out the name of a winner.

Either information is posted in the public domain and can be both accessed and viewed or it is censored. I tend to side with the principles of free speech.

as another point what about when people like Di coke or the L woman from the nickelodean contest get mentioned AFTER being in the press - do all topics get pulled then?
Public domain by then, all people are doing is pooling it in one place by announcing the winners

There are already hundreds of names listed on these forums going back several years.


For example here is a list posted back in 2008.
