Nissan Customer Service A Joke
Sorry quite long story
On Sunday I found out my car would not start. I tried to jump it from another car to no avail. I guessed it was something to do with the battery.
I get AA cover with my bank account n I knew I got RAC with my new car(bought dec 2012) but wasn't sure if it lasted more than the first year. So I rang the AA who came and tested the battery which showed a fault (I saw it on the device he used). His booster pack started the car but he said he could not guarantee it would start the next day. I had a job interview the next day that I needed my car for. So my options seemed to be chance it, wait until the morning to try n get a new battery, ring dealership but they were closed or buy a new battery off the AA. With the interview looming I opted for battery replacement at a cost of £101.50 At this point I did not know who long the warranty was in my battery !
I subsequently got in touch with the man who sold me the car. He told me the battery was covered for 3 years which I has obviously not exceeded with just over 2yrs since I bought the car. He also told me I would have to ring the after Sales team at the dealership. I did just that n they told me I should have had the car taken to them but it could have taken a couple of days to sort the battery as they had to send it off to get checked n then they would give me another battery.
I pointed out that I didn't want 2 batteries for 1 car I wanted the money back for the battery I had to buy because the one they supplied was not fit for purpose ! So she said would not give me any money as I had not given them any (I was under the impression I had given them a lot of money for my new Qashqai! ) But had given the AA money. She told me I would have to ring the AA n ask for a refund for the battery n get the old one back so they could check it n then if faulty they would be me onther one ! So also told me that I'd I was not happy with that I could try actual Nissan Customer care.
I rang the AA n unsurprisingly they were not prepared to take the battery back n give me a refund as it was used ! They did manager ot get hold of the patrol man n he will drop the battery off over the next couple of weeks.
I then got in touch with Nissan Customer Services n they opened a case for me after I explained what had happened. On request I emailed them a copy of the battery invoice n the AA mans report from the day. Today I spoke with my case manager who again told me I should get the AA to refund my money n I should have used the RAC not AA. That until I get them the battery so they can test it they will not offer my anything.
I told them that I didn't consider this to be customer service where I do all the rining and running around n they do noting ! The product was provided and covered by them and they were closed. I told him as far as I was concerned there product was not fit for purpose I needed the car for my interviewed so what else could I do...that I should not be without my car because there product was faulty through nothing I had done.
What are my rights here ?
So now I have to wait for the battery to turn up n the do a 24 mile round trip to take it to them so they can send it off to test.

None really.
You can get a replacement battery from Nissan, it's not their fault you decided to go elsewhere and you wouldn't expect them to pay for an overpriced one from the AA.
If they give you a replacement then maybe sell it on Ebay?Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.0 -
Give them the battery, They will test it and if faulty give you a new one which as mentioned above you can resell.
Or they tell you the battery is fine and your charging system may need looking at. In which case you get your old battery back.
Nothing wrong with their customer service in this case.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
Was this car purchased brand new from a dealer0

What running around did you do? You called the wrong recovery firm, not the one your dealership, not Nissan UK, would have directed you to; the AA sold you a battery that the patrol conveniently had on his van and got you mobile again.
The AA have went out of their way to return your old battery, the dealership can test it and if it is duff, replace it under guarantee. Hopefully that is all that is wrong and your alternator isn't up the swanny or you have a parasitic drain that needs chasing down.
Sounds like you have a spare battery and all for the want of taking 5 minutes to read the paperwork.0 -

What was the RAC gonna do that the AA didn't to get my car working for the next day....give me a new battery for free !
Yes maybe this is all a blessing n will bring to light something something wrong with my car which the Dealership will have to sort out."The time is always right to do what is right"0 -

Quite possibly they would have give you a free battery as the policy via Nissan may well include the RAC being able to claim costs back from Nissan.0
