It was lovely to see her though and catch up. She is lovely but very succeptable to scams and at the moment is panicking as she ordered some sort of raspberry tablets for slimming from the internet as she thought they were free and now the company wants £80 a month from her . She is on benefits and can't possibly afford to pay that amount. I am trying to sort it out for her but it is frying my brain a bit.

Look on the praise vent and warnings board on here. There's loads of info on raspberry ketones and the rest of the raspberry stuff.
  • Hi everyone,

Today has been largely unproductive, because of it being a public holiday (Waitangi Day here in NZ). I spent a few hours reading a book I was given for my birthday on Monday called "Cooking for Geeks". It's exactly what it sounds like - a recipe book with all sorts of science behind the dishes included, as well as some interviews with chefs who are big time experimenters as well as being good cooks. I've also made two loaves of bread which are going to prove overnight and I'll bake them in the morning. It was the first time in a while that I got my trusty Kenwood out - somehow I've managed to avoid doing so for some time now.

The sun is out now, after the heavy frost we had last night.

I need to crack on as I have a cherry cake to make and then some food shopping to do. We have visitors coming later for the weekend so need to make sure every thing's shipshape.

    Have a good weekend

There are a couple of threads on this scam and I hope you can help your friend deal with it. Bad enough if you actually have the money to lose but despicable if you don't

    Icy here but no snow.

Made DH a big breakfast and then made a start on lunch for him as I am taking DD to cinema to see "Jupiter Ascending" later.

Lamb mince with onions, carrots, leeks and herbs is in the oven for an hour and I have boiled some potatoes on the hob for mash to go with it. I will plate up the mince and mash before we go out so all he has to do is microwave it for a few minutes.

When we get back late afternoon I plan to add passata to the mince and turn into a bolognese that DH can have with baked potato and we can have with a little pasta.

Found a gorgeous fabric online that should have been £32 a metre reduced to £9 a metre so ordered some to re cover the dining chairs DD had bought second hand for her new house. Once they are painted white and the seats are a bluey/minty brocadey fabric they should look good.

Still need to find fabric to cover foam for window seats for her and sew new curtain tape on her curtains so looks as if I will be busy.

DH seems to be getting a bit better every day but have results of scan at the end of this month so trying to stay positive and annoyingly optimistic.

    Hugs to all.

    Morning all,

I'm feeling much brighter after my dental work yesterday thankfully. Still taking painkillers but I think today will be my last day on them.... Till next week anyway. This is the last time I stretch my dental check up to 8 months!

Youngest at work, hubby gone to talk money. Hes got a job but needs to thrash out the finer details such as hourly rate/expenses and all that. He'll be back tonight as he's had to travel quite a distance.

Grandson is sleeping soundly in his cot. I'm on babysitting duty today.

My daughter fell for that scam too unfortunately but she did get out of it eventually.

Still haven't got to see Mom. The guilt is enormous.

    Onwards and forwards,

    have a great day all.

    Afternoon all,

    Csarina - Huge congratulations :)

Very cold out today. Sky looks sunny and bright but by gum that wind is chilling. I'm so glad we had the cavity wall insulation done as it makes such a difference. It really holds the heat in.

Caught up with DH's paperwork between work and washing is on the airer.

Told DH he had to cook dinner tonight as he complained about my choice last night. I don't care what he cooks, at least it isn't me doing it!

Have a good weekend all. x

    Afternoon all,

Congratulations on great granddaughter csarina........a friendsgreatgranddaughter born last week has the same name.

Not as cold today, I was to see our friend who is dying this morning, he came home from hospital yesterday and is hoping to be able to stay there until the end, they have carers coming in 3 times a day, and 2 of their grown up children have been able to take leave from work.....I have extracted a promise from his wife, who has been my friend for more than 50 years, that she will call on me if I can help in any way, even if only for her to have a rant.

Dinner today is leftover ham etc from yesterday, found a mincepie in one of the cupboards so that is my pudding, OH doesnt like mince, so dont feel bad at not wanting to share!

Judi....dont feel guilty, you are doing youtr best and that is always enough..

Hugs to all who would like one, stay warm and safe
