This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine

Morning all,
It's 7.30 and I can't see anyone else!
Head still sore, but better. Got a big scab on it now, can't wait to wash it!:rotfl:

Chicken casserole tonight. Freezing cold here, I don't want to go out, but I need catfood. He could eat the tuna in the tin that I have I suppose:rotfl:

Hope everyone is okay, and keeping well and warm.
Have a good day!:T

  • Good morning,

Thank you hilstep for starting the thread.

Absolutely freezing cold here this morning. Had a really bad night, Himself was coughing for most of the night, so neither of us slept much at all.

Just having breakfast and then we will do some shopping and that is it. I think we will hibernate for the weekend. I will be doing some baking over the weekend and I want Himself to rest as much as possible, it worries me that he has had this cough for so long, I know it is only a virus but it seems to have been going on for some time now.

Dumpling hope you enjoyed your lunch yesterday, and hope you managed to go out without too much angst.

Take care all, stay safe and warm

    Morning everyone.

Just peeked out the window and there's a layer of frost everywhere.

Unusually I have just woken up. When I go to work I rise at 5.15am every day so a lie-in is lovely.

Todsy I'm waiting for a couple of workmen, one to deliver my wood and one to measure up for a bathroom cabinet. Want a wooden one and my lovely carpenter jumped at the chance to make it.

Doing some batch cooking today too, and getting a new bulb for my car. Going to avoid dusting and vacuuming,

Hope everyone has a good Friday.
  • Morning all. It's looking a bit brighter here this morning so promises to be a better day than yesterday. We ended up with drizzle in the afternoon which softened some of the lying snow. Pavements and gardens still covered where the sun doesn't reach.

Friday is cleaning day at Casa Abuela. I don't much like Fridays but sadly cleaning has to be done! I have got off to a head start as just done the kitchen whilst Mr TA is still asleep! Then dust (and polish where necessary) and he follows on with the vac. Lastly the bathroom gets cleaned.

Hope all those with dental problems are feeling better today. Hilstep pleased you are slowly getting back to normal after your fall. Feed the cat tuna if you don't feel like venturing out.

A bit of savoury mince left in the fridge which will do for Mr TA's lunch and I think a wrap (salad and ham) for me with some hm soup. Some ys
breaded plaice from Sainsbobs defrosting and earmarked for tea, with some hm potato wedges I think.

This has been the one week in four when we are not needed for having the 3 DGDs for sleepovers and school runs. I so look forward to this peaceful week but by the end of it we are really missing them! Next week I will be tearing my hair out and wondering why I wished the peaceful week away!!

Have a good day everybody and take care xx

It's a lovely morning and I have 3 loads of washing on the line, should just be able to finish it off in the drier this afternoon.

Hope the poorlies are feeling better, will catch up later. Hugs to all. Take care. XX

    Good morning everyone :hello:

It's very cold here this morning, roll on Spring! Just had a tesco delivery so will need to put that away this morning. Other than that it's a fairly quiet day except for DD12's first orthodontist appointment this afternoon. My eldest DD is going to take us and possibly go in with her if I am not up to it.

Yesterday was a bit of a disaster unfortunately, my friend was quite late which left me standing outside 'spoons feeling very uncomfortable, the food we chose was not that great and very greasy which gave me a terribly upset tummy so I had to come home straight away. It was lovely to see her though and catch up. She is lovely but very succeptable to scams and at the moment is panicking as she ordered some sort of raspberry tablets for slimming from the internet as she thought they were free and now the company wants £80 a month from her . She is on benefits and can't possibly afford to pay that amount. I am trying to sort it out for her but it is frying my brain a bit.

Anyway, that's all from me for now, hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx

    Hi everyone,

We arrived at a cold house in Yorkshire. We have a hive remote control which means that we can switch the heating on from home and arrive to a nice warm house. This time the boiler didn't switch on because the pressure had dropped, brrr. We lit the log fires though and by bedtime we were quite cosy.

My brother and his wife are coming over tonight so he can sign the house contract as a co-executor - we have 3 other brothers so we have too be very careful about recording everything (we're not a close family!).

DD and BF are also coming tonight but not till later, we have to meet the train at Skipton. We're going to look at a wedding venue on Lake Coniston, although it will have to be very special to be better than the one in Norfolk.

    Have a good day.

Morning all! I'm cooking today, a sausage casserole for dinner tomorrow, sticky toffee muffins for puddings over the weekend, and tonight we are having broccoli and stilton soup, panini and pancakes.

First load of washing in, and have read the meters and inputted the numbers to the supplier. Rather high consumption but we have lots of credit on the account so not a problem.

    Morning all,

Lovely bright day here very breezy but very cold, I have a towel wash in the wm which I will hang put for a while and hopefully get it mostly dry, will do another one once its finished.

Was in the dentist approximately 2 minutes yesterday, he had a quick look and asked me to make a longer appointment, so I have to put up with this thing wedged for a while longer !

Going to do a curry for dinner with some left over pork and turkey from Xmas and some left over sauce from a takeaway, will just chop some extra veg to go in and add some coconut cream, if I go out I will get some poppadum's to go with it, but if not it doesn't matter if not.

Need to hoover through upstairs this morning and clean the bathroom.

    Have good days all xx
