Moving Home

I know this is not unusual but at the end of the month we are going to have to move home for about 7 weeks before we move into our new home.
Questions :
1) What happens to our deposit? Does the solicitor hold it or do we get it back?
2) Mail - should we change addresses with all our companies twice (phone, savings, car) or just re direct mail?
3) will this impact on our mortgage application / credit scores?
Is there anything else we need to consider?
thank you

Why? Where are you living now? Can you not stay?

Which deposit? O the property you are buying? On the rental home you are in now? On a rental home you are moving to for 7 weeks......?
Come on! Explain yourself clearly if you want help.
2) Mail - should we change addresses with all our companies twice (phone, savings, car) or just re direct mail?
How can we advise with so litle information? Where do you live now? Can you ask someone to forward your mail? Or not?
Have you heard of Royal Mail forward servie?
3) will this impact on our mortgage application / credit scores?
If you are buying a property, then selling it 7 weks later, this will affect your credit score. But as you have not explained your plans it is impossible to answer.....
Is there anything else we need to consider?
Yes. You'll need to establish a new shopping routine at your temporary 7 week location.

I am writing this assuming that you have bought a new build and are waiting for it to finish being built. Also that you have sold your current home so will be exchanging with your buyer soon.allylou2002 wrote: »I know this is not unusual but at the end of the month we are going to have to move home for about 7 weeks before we move into our new home.

The deposit is handed over at the point of exchange. If you have done that, you won't get it back.
2) Mail - should we change addresses with all our companies twice (phone, savings, car) or just re direct mail?
As we are in the same boat, we will be redirecting our mail rather than changing everything over and then changing it again as suggested by our mortgage advisor
3) will this impact on our mortgage application / credit scores?
I don't know about this

Another interpretation. You have sold your home and are moving into temporary accommodation before you can complete your purchase.allylou2002 wrote: »I know this is not unusual but at the end of the month we are going to have to move home for about 7 weeks before we move into our new home.

Do you mean the money from sale which you intend to use as the deposit on your new home? If so, you will recieve a check from you solicitor or they may send it to your bank account electronically, ask them.
If you have exchanged already which seems likely, 10% of purchase price will already be with your sellers solicitor so you should expect whatever is left.
If this is one of the current schemes/newbuild all of this could be inaccurate.
2) Mail - should we change addresses with all our companies twice (phone, savings, car) or just re direct mail
Redirect as advised above
3) will this impact on our mortgage application / credit scores?
Moving in 7 weeks and no Mortgage offer? Don't know about that one, but shouldn't impact your credit score.
I sold and bought again 21/2 months later. Just had to ensure my ported rate offer didn't expire which in my case was within 90 days.
Is there anything else we need to consider?
You sound unsure of what's happening which is understandable and so you should consider speaking with your solicitor to get a clearer idea of the process.

Apologies for the vague posting!
We were let down on a property - made an offer, then vendor was unsure if she wanted to sell after 9 weeks of waiting we decided we could not wait any longer pulled out and have an offer on a new property.
Of course our buyer wants to move in and he has been patient so we have agreed to move out to live with my mum & dad. In our new house, the vendor won't move out until May as her work commitments finish then and she leaves the city ( so no chain )
Just wondered on the implications - more the deposit really - who holds our money until we exchange.
Moving back to mums is not ideal, having to move twice but at least we can save a bit of cash & spoil ourselves when we move in.
Thanks to everyone who tried to help, even with my very vague posting 0
