We've done ours last. No biggy I'll lay the flooring in 6 months probably. The slab is irrelevant if youre having a screed as its only going to be that that'll cause the issue. If you put a barrier between screed and finished floor then dont see what diff it'll make anyway.

We had 100mm slab with 75mm screed, we don't have an architect but they have minimum depths at building control for a reason and as long as they're happy then why bother with more. I'd rather 50mm extra insulation. Architects will do what most professionals will do and over egg things to cover their !!!!. That's a lot of extra cash over a big job for you to spend.

If finished floor is going to be tiles then speak to manufacturer of tile adhesive to be used about going on said design for best advice

Big Thanks Manda, how long did you wait to install kitchen? Did the moisture affect the cabinets? I'm assuming you just floored around the units (originally I wanted to floor the whole lot but looks like that will not be possible, no biggie).

We fitted the kitchen once the floor was ok to walk on, a few days maybe. But as it was my brother doing the kitchen, it was evenings and weekends, so it probably took a few weekends to get finished in the end. The cabinets are all fine, the floor is still hard, its only small amount of moisture that still comes out of the floor, the only place you notice it is on the windows, but as we'd had a whole extension built there's a lot of moisture in everything that can really take months to properly dry out. When we laid floor we just went under the cupboards to the feet, as the plinth then covers up all the edges. We did go fully underneath appliances though, they stood in living room until we finished. It's lovely now it's all done though.

Trying to remember when our slab went in- it's all kind of blended in now after 7 months. But I know the slab went in when it was still warm and sunny. The screed was probably mid september, but we didn't have doors/ windows on it then so it was 6 weeks til the kitchen was fitted and flooring was the week after that

yeah we waited 3 months, one day per mm I think it was. Ours was in the summer and I assumed that it would have been fine after a month or so but we played it safe.
