Changing a joint account to a sole account, plus switching

I'm changing a joint account, held with husband, to a sole account in my name. He never uses the account and is in agreement - forms to do it are in the post.
My main reason for making it to a sole account is in order to switch to another account of mine.
Apparently, the change ought to come into effect 5 days after they receive the paperwork back. But do I need to delay longer before attempting to switch? Not quite sure how it works.

As long as he has an account, should not be a problem.
I often produce bank statement as ID if necessary.💙💛 💔0 -
After the new account is opened they let you know about the switch date. AFAIK you can postpone it if needed.Apparently, the change ought to come into effect 5 days after they receive the paperwork back. But do I need to delay longer before attempting to switch? Not quite sure how it works.0 -
Thanks.
So, as soon as the account is just mine (OH already has another account with the same bank) I can go for it?
I think the account I'm switching it to won't be new, it will just mean everything will switch to my account with my other bank account provider. To Do 2015

You can switch a sole account into a joint account, just not able to do it the other way round, if that makes a difference to you with getting the account switched over.0

Yes, I just want to make sure that the bank I'm switching to will 'see' that it is now a sole account. Worried there might be some sort of delay. Don't want any misunderstandings putting a spanner in the works. To Do 2015

That's the idea - I'm hoping to grab the Halifax £100 switching offer. I'm an existing customer so hopefully it will go through OK. :fingerscrossed:To Do 2015
