Thank you everyone, they are some great ideas! Will definitely keep me busy in a couple weeks when I finish work. xx

I have invested in some of the foil pots! Great idea, do you know whether you can get large ones for a whole lasagne or shepherds pie? I could only see individual portion ones.

I have just discovered that you can freeze raw onion. I had a bag ful that were close to the end of their use, did a google hunt, and all you have to do is chop and place in appropriate container. Apparently they loose some of the firmness, but are grand for cooking :)

I love eating onions, hate chopping them! Such a handy solution :)

Just to warn that spices can go a bit odd when frozen for any length of time, so either make sure you eat within a month or so; or keep the spice levels low (especially chilli / paprika) and add when you re-heat.
  • If you like curry, apparently the curry sauce in post 38 freezes just fine:

I have seen large ones. But you could always line your usual dish with foil then cook, cool and freeze. Then lift it out of the dish with the foil, peel it off or not. Keep the dish out of the freezer and leave the lasagne in the freezer. But make sure you wrap or bag it to prevent freezer burn.
When it comes to eating it, pop it into the original dish to defrost and stick it in the oven. Takes up less room in the freezer.
    Good luck with everything.

At work we make a HUGE lasagne then when very cold and set, we cut into portions, wrap and freeze. Works just grand We defrost in the fridge and reheat through when needed in the micro ( in a dish), finishing off under the grill

I save the plastic containers from takeaways and reuse them ideal for freezer to microwave. Well friends and family save them for me shame to throw away.
Why pay full price when you may get it YS ;)

you can get foil containers intended for roasting meat - they don't come with lids but you could cover with foil. seen them in Adsa and poundshops.

    @ Danih and Suki 1964.

I think only those living on the island of Ireland say "it's grand!"

I'm one of them, and know immediately who the Irish person is when they use the word "grand".

Sorry for going off topic.. just had to say hi!
