Pet insurance claim in first 14 days?

Hi all,

Just a quick question about pet insurance, i applied for pet insurance for my puppy last week which all was fine but then at the weekend my puppy was in an accident and suffered a broken leg and had to have surgery 😥😥 now my question is , it stated when I applied that cover for injury starts straight away but illness not for 14 days, so going on this we should be able to claim but because it was such a new policy and I've not had animals before I'm not sure if they will pay out because it was such a new policy? I can prove it didn't happen before I took the policy out as we had her injections at vets in between taking the policy out and the accident, any experience would be greatly welcomed. Thank you

I cant see that it would be a problem to be honest.

Cover for Injury starts straight away is pretty clear so I wouldn't worry about it.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.
  • Ah good I was thinking the same was just worried within being in the first few days there might of been something in place that meant we couldn't. Thanks for your reply
  • There is, but only for sickness. You say this was an accident not sickness and there is no exclusion for that.

Its easier for you to find a lump on your dog, buy insurance and then take them to the vet to get a diagnosis of cancer than have your animal bleeding out and you buy insurance then wait X days for it to come into effect.

Insurers think people are devious but not cruel
