This appears to answer your problem:

    http://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/fedora-35/driver-for-epson-sx425w-4175496675/

although the epson database it provides a link to appears to be down temporarily at the moment (I've used it in the past to find & download Linux drivers for epson printers):

  • Thanks for your reply. I have since found the epson nx 420 .deb driver (which is supposed to cover sx425w) and have downloaded and installed vis USC option. This shows the driver has been installed. Under printers in System settings, the printer is seen, after add printer option, but after selection and forward option, the printer just doesn't get configured! The only printer seen is generic which doesn't work! I guess I'm missing something to 'tie' the driver to the printer to enable it to get configured. Nb I'm doing the simple USB connection for this install.

The epson database that I provided a link to before now appears to be working and if you enter SX425W in the search field and select Linux as the operating system it returns 4 drivers, 2 for the printer and 2 for the scanner, which it says are for the SX420W rather than the NX420. I don't know if they are different drivers but as it's epson's own site it's probably worth trying them:

Here is another Ubuntu link, it's for 12.04 but still relevant :

Science isn't exact, it's only confidence within limits.
