Global Shipping Programme - Buyer Doesn't Want Item Already Shipped

I sold an item on ebay yesterday and shipped the same day, via global shipping programme.

Just received a message from the buyer saying it was purchased in error and can they cancel the sale.

After calling ebay to verify, I replied and explained it has already been shipped, but if they wanted to return it (at their own cost) I would refund in full upon it's return.

They then told me that they wouldn't accept the delivery.

Where will I stand with this, in terms of refund on the item and also return shipping?

I'm going to call ebay this afternoon but don't have the mental energy to deal with it right now!

Also, I didn't put my address on the back of the parcel (I know, I know!), but will this be returned to ebay, who will then return it to me, as I guess they will have my details and address on the sales record?

  • They probably carried on looking after purchase and saw it a penny cheaper somewhere else! ;)

Isn't one of the features of of hte global shipping programme that sellers only have to show delivery to the UK address Ebay use? If the buyer claims INR and you having tracking you would be covered - presumably Ebay take the hit.

Ah hadn't thought of that, thanks Martin.

Will give eBay a call anyway to confirm and let them know that they buyer intends to reject the parcel because of buyer remorse. Not sure if he will get black mark against him for that, I hope so.

Or maybe, ebay will say tough titty, because it's them that will have to dig in their pocket.

Should be fun, if they say, sorry you ordered it, just because you didn't accept it, you ain't getting a refund.
  • I'd contact eBay now, they might be able to intercept it at the Derbyshire centre
So many glitches, so little time...
  • It's now eBay's problem. Not yours. That's one of the main benefits of the GSP. Just stick firmly with the buyer that it can't be cancelled.

I'd be interested to know what happened with this.
