Vent: CoolMilk

Like thousands of other children, my 4 year old daughter is entitled to free milk at school. The scheme is ran by Cool Milk
Only thing is, my daughter doesn't actually like drinking milk - she'll have it on her breakfast, but won't drink it.

So ahead of my daughters 5th birthday, we've been sent an invoice to pay for milk for her for the remainder of the term. As it happens, it's not a lot of money - but she doesn't like it, won't drink it, so not worth us doing.

However, rather than just not take up this service, we have been told we must give written confirmation to CoolMilk stating that we do not wish to take up a service we didn't ask for. grrr

(and yes, a minor inconvenience - but it annoyed me, and this is the vent board, so I'm venting)

Been a while since my kids were in primary, but there used to be an option for fruit juice rather than milk, it meant they didn't feel so left out when the rest of the class sat down for their morning milk and it also catered for the lactose kids and, like yours, kids who simply didn't like milk.
Have you asked the school if there is another option?

Thanks pulliptears - I'll ask, but don't think there is - they're only allowed Milk or Water, even with their lunch. Which actually works well for us, as we'd struggled to get our daughter to drink plain water, and now she does.

I'd think I'd just say I have no contract with CoolMilk. I do not require their service and as the school or Local Authority made a deal with them then they can do the informing.

I doubt they'll do fruit juice. There's a big obsession with the amount of sugar it contains.

OP, obviously you'll write the letter, as irritating as it is, but legally I expect you could simply ignore this invoice. Like you say, you never asked for it, there's no contract between you and this company, therefore no penalty if you simply don't pay.
