PPI claim from Time Retail Finance

The only time I have ever paid PPI was when I was 'duped' by Currys about 15 years ago and they persuaded me to pay for a new TV using their card (Time Retail) I definately did not know about the PPI and ended up paying alot more than I should have done (alot older and wiser now).
Therefore I would like to pursue a PPI claim against them. Unfortunately I cant seem to get anywhere - a couple of years ago I wrote to a Leeds address asking for a DPA but it was returned as the addressee had gone away.
Is it possible to do anything as the company doesnt seem to be in existence anymore - it was taken over by Santander I think (I also wrote to them but they said they didnt have any information on me, strange as I have had a mortgage and a bank account with them) - I havent done anything else since.
Just wondered whether anyone had successfully claimed in recent years and if so how they went about it.
Any information would be most appreciated.
Thanks
Chicka

15 years ago is 2000 - unfortunately 5 years before regulation started (14/1/2005) - you would complain to Currys (obviously whoever owns them now) but they can dismiss your complaint as pre-regulation.

In addition if your deal was all paid off before they went bankrupt and were bought out, chances are they will have deleted all your data anyway in line with DPA regulations so if you don't have any documents then unfortunately the complaint is over

Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

Time Retail Finance was owned by Kingfisher (owners of B&Q and Comet et al)

In 2002 Kingfisher sold it to GE Capital Bank Limited, and in 2008 Santander bought GE Capital Bank. In 2003 Kingfisher demerged Comet which became insolvent last year. Time Retail Finance currently exists as a subsidiary of Santander, but is in liquidation.

I'm assuming here that you have confused Curry's with Comet. Since as far as I'm aware, Time Retail Finance had nothing to do with the Dixon's group.

Thanks for the replies - and yes you are right antrobus it was Comet and not Currys now I think about it.
Looks like I may just have to let it go.
    Thanks anyway.

The post you responded to was made in 2015..

Regardless, every complaint is judged on it's own merits, so it's pointless asking others whether they were successful or not.
