Redundancy Consultation

I need a quick answer if anyone can help... I have a meeting this afternoon to discuss my job as I was put under a period of redundancy consultation...
The problem I have is that even though they have said that the business model needs to change, thus they cannot sustain a Business Development Managers position, they have now asked me whether I want to apply for a new role that is supposedly being advertised externally and internally - The job description is 100% exactly what I am doing now... The only change is that they have called the job Highways Development Manager..
I didn't think they were allowed to do that... Any comments please ??:(

I think you need to clarify with them whether they are suggestsing that this is being offered to you as suitable alternative wemployment, and if so, what the terms and considtions are and how (if at all) they differ from your current terms.
If it is genuinely the same job under a different title, then they are simply changing your job title, you are not redundant.
If there are significant differences then you need to clarify whether this is suitable alternative employmentAll posts are my personal opinion, not formal advice Always get proper, professional advice (particularly about anything legal!)0
