Raising Sofa Height?

I've recently done my back in and really need to raise the height of the sofa, it's very low and a nightmare to get up from. I've thought about just getting booster cushions but then I'd lose 4 inches of backrest which wouldn't be ideal.

I've looked at furniture raisers, but the sofa legs are around 5.5" diameter and I can't find any big enough to take them :/ so that only leaves DIY options unless I'm missing something obvious.

I'll have to get the OH to do it, so the simpler and less grump inducing the better as he's already moaning about it and I've only suggested it once!

Any suggestions gratefully received :)

Mum had to have her chair raised and got a thing from Age Concern that went under the legs to raise it about 3 inches.

I'm not suggesting that you are old enough :p
But it might be worth giving them a call to see if these 'raisers' are available for purchase.

When I had my knee replacements we made H frame with 4 x 2 timber.

Laid it on the floor and sat the Sette (in this case) on it.

Not difficult as long as you measure it carefully. (As the setee was green we coverd the timber that could be seen with a green baze material)
I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.
