O/S Daily Thursday 05th February 2015

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine

    Morning everyone.

Positively balmy today compared to earlier in the week.

At the office, doing work and going home this afternoon :j

Got a line of workmen over the weekend, builder, landscaper and log delivery bloke.

    In haste...
    Hope everyone is well.

    Where is everyone today?

The s!!t hit the fan good and properly yesterday at work - hopefully someone who has been behaving very wrongly will get their comeuppance.

I have to pack to go up to Yorkshire today - I hope the snow holds off because I have to drive to the midlands and pick DH up there before we carry on.

We got the contract for the sale of mum's house yesterday so hopefully that will go through easily.

    Have a good day.
  • Morning all. No sign of a thaw yet, the lying snow still frozen solid. Is Spring ever going to arrive?! The signs are there - bulbs shooting through and the blinds getting closed later in the evening and opened again earlier in the morning - so some hope on the horizon!

Shopping day today. Just been doing my lists. Usually it's just Aldi but every so oft we do Sainsbury as well to stock up on the stuff I can't get in Aldi. I have done quite well at eating from the freezers and store cupboards through January and still lots in there so I don't want to fall by the wayside and buy something I didn't intend to from Sainsbo.

Three tubs of garlic and herb cheese spread on my Aldi list and then this afternoon I can then use up the bag of red peppers I got cheap and make triple quantity of my Red Pepper and soft cheese soup. That should keep me going for a while frozen in portions. Mmmm I just love that soup.

We have had blue sky for a few days but this morning it looks very grey and miserable. A depressing sort of day in store I think.

Have a good day all whatever you are up to Take Care xx

I'm here Snoozer but only just.:D Ive got another dental appointment at 9 so I was up pretty early (for me) to make sure I'd got my medication and painkillers inside me. Most of the work has been done I think, its just a matter of fitting a crown over my back tooth I think.

    Anyway, morning all.

Back into normality for me. Dogs still scratching. Still no sign of fleas but strangely enough the farm dog is scratching uncontrollably. He is a well looked after dog and is wormed and flead by the calendar. No signs of him having fleas either but as we were only at the farm just over a month ago its a strong possibility that the two coincidences are linked. I think we are going to have to try another treatment. I'm vacuuming daily, cant do much more unless I start using sprays and chemicals but I'm going to start by giving the girls a bath using tea tree dog shampoo. As you can imagine I feel pretty 'unclean' at the thought of fleas but there you go. I'm surprised hubby hasn't been bit if it is fleas as gnats/fleas love him. About 10 years ago he worked refurbing a shopping mall and came back bitten to death. No one else was bitten but the GP said it was fleas. He covered the chair where they sat to have their dinner with plastic and he said he could see the damn things jumping.

Youngest is struggling at work. Out the door on a morning at 6am and not coming home till 7pm.

Hubby has got stuff to do today. He's off down the motorway on Monday but needs to thrash out the final details of the next contract. He is working on a boat yard. They are turning it into a car dealership and there will be 12 months work on it.

Not sure what I'm doing today. I ought to go and see Mom but we'll see.

For those of you not on Facebook theres been another adoption at the Baby House. Little Syia has been adopted into her Dutch family. So much joy and jubilation!

I'll leave you with a pic before I go and get ready to see the dentist.

    Morning

Good luck at the dentist Judi

TA no sign of a thaw in South yorkshire yet either , the paths are still treacherous , it's ok at lower levels however we live on top of one of sheffiled seven hills and the snow doesn't look like it's going to thaw any time soon

Been at my mums for the last couple of days sorting things out , hopefully we have found her somewhere to live and if so she could be moving in a couple of weeks :j I hope so where she is now is awful , cold and isolated . The new place is a bungalow and from the outside looks lovely and well kept . We have spent the last couple of days going through stuff, packing up and reminiscing . The place she is moving to is smaller than her present place and so she will have let go of a lot of furniture and memories :(. It will be worth it though to see her in a place that she can manage and be warm and comfortable )
Off to do some shopping need to do a list before I go

Have a good day everyone x
  • Morning, dull and grey here, looks like we might get more of the white stuff. I hope not, going to my friends tomorrow, do not want to be driving in the slushy snow.

Not a lot going on. Going to do the Friday clean this morning as I will be away early tomorrow.
  • Morning all

    Morning Guys,
Cold again here. I am not going anywhere. I went out on Tuesday to meet DD. I slipped on black ice and gashed the back of my head on a wall. Two lorry drivers stopped and helped. Ended up in A and E for four hours. I have decided to sue now as I had reported it the day before, and neighbours had reported it too

Not going out now unless I am on my scooter:rotfl:

Not sure what to have for dinner yet.

Have a good day all. :T

  • Brrr its a nippy one this morning Hilstep I am sorry about your mishap black ice is treacherous.I try not to go out at all if I can help it and always have my stick in one hand and try to hold onto a wall with the other I don't bounce very well either.I hope you soon feel better.Supposed to take DGS to orthrodontist today but it looks as though the sky will open and dump snow on us at any moment so I'll see what its like in an hour If it does snow I will cancel as the place is at the top of a very steep hill and the parking isn't good around there.
Keep wrapped up and warm chums the wind is bitter out there
