Thursday 5 February - What small DFW things will you do today?

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.

Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending .

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important.:money:

    Good morning Ziggy

Twiggy - that article you posted yesterday was very interesting. I worked with a recipe tester and her recipes certainly didn't cost £2,000 each to test! But the gist of what Martin & Jamie say is true. I have set an annual food budget of £2400 this year as well as monthly targets. It is a sobering thought that you could buy a fairly decent used car for the same cost.

    Morning All
Well I haven't felt very well since late yesterday evening. Can't put my finger on it but I literally spent last night on the sofa in silence as even chatting felt too much effort. Still feel worn out this morning. I wonder if I just did too much yesterday hauling enormous shop home, walking and cycling my usual journies too. Will be taking it much easier to see.

It's snowing here at the moment. Will try and think of some gentle MS activities for the rest of the day.

    Have a good day.

When I signed up for Internet with bt, it was a welcome extra as I was quite happy with the deal I was getting. Just not sure if it's £75 or £150 but either way I'm happy :j:j

    Morning all :)
Thanks for starting us off Ziggy
Hope you feel better soon Bobarella. Do take care :(
Well done on the Sainsburys voucher Jojo :D

    For me today:
    Check banks Done

    Meals from stores Done

Batch cooking to use up items in the fridge OH decided he wanted to go out, and then I got involved with decluttering so didn't get to this. Must do it tomorrow though!

Cleaning - I have lots of crumbs left by baby GD yesterday, especially from a scone she claimed ownership of. I thought she might like a bite, but she grabbed it and ate the whole thing :rotfl: Done

Decluttering - I am determined to tackle those trunks in the bedrooms today. I dread to think what might be hiding in those  Seriously, I am really enjoying getting rid of carp and making the place look less cluttered. I am an antiques / vintage / junk dealer, which is an occupation that doesn't lend itself to minimalism, and I don't like great big empty spaces anyway, feels cold to me. But it is very satisfying to question why you have specific things (or in my case multiples of things), sell extras or donate them to family if they want them, or to others via the charity shop or freecycle etc, to know where everything is and be able to close cupboards, drawers etc properly :)Did the trunks, 2 bags have gone to the charity shop and a freecycler is supposed to be collecting 2 more. Also did my bedside cabinet and some drawers in the kitchen :)

Right, better get to it, but more coffee needed first I think!

Dawn - love baby GD's style :rotfl:

    Today's list:

    • Breakfast was what was left lurking in the fridge - the remains of a yoghurt plus a kiwi fruit
    • Lunch - more of what was lurking, a few salad bits plus a tin of tuna from stores
    • Grocery shop tonight, won't be massive but enough to get us through to the start of next week
    • Check swagbucks and onepoll
    • 10 minute tidy up - hallway tonight, plus I didn't have time to do spare room last night will do it tonight aswell
    • Pub quiz night - I'll be driving so will drink water. Think it might be my turn to pay for the team so will do that plus buy a couple of raffle tickets
    • Check banking
    • Check credit card as a couple of things have been bought on it and will need paid
    • Try and read some of this month's Writing Magazine - it arrived yesterday but I never got time

    Morning DFW-Jedis,

Well, life goes on, as does the almost everlasting quest for solvency and sanity. Today will be spent relaxing and trying not to spend too much.
Yesterday I managed to deal with a few things I've been avoiding, took a lot of effort! :o

Thanks for the starter, Ziggy. Take care Bobarella.

I have taken to doing the housework alongside the daily sorting out of things. I start in one room and, I not only clean it, but deal with anything that needs doing in that room while I'm there. eg I clean the study and then do the filing or pack up a parcel.

    The List

:starmod: Check online banking and reconcile monies. Done.

    :starmod: Do i-Say surveys.

:starmod: Turn off electric alarm clock at the wall til tonight.

:starmod: Read news online instead of buying a paper.

:starmod: Go for a run if and when the pavement defrosts.

:starmod: Sold old, extinct, laptop on eBay. :j Take for posting.

:starmod: Watch DVD from the bottomless pit (aka the DVD cupboard).

:starmod: Download a tv show at the library on their WiFi.

    Freebies

:starmod: Free Aveeno moisturiser sample via Facebook: (Link)

Well that's me for today. Good luck on your quests, Jedis.

Good morning, Ziggy - Thanks for starting the thread this morning.

Take dog for slow walk with the hubby when he finishes work
    Put washing away
    Number crunching
