Hi All,

So I found a couple of properties I enquired about here, and was sent this as an Email reply

Email 1:

Hello,

The en suite double bedroom is still available for rent. You can stay in my flat as long as you pay your rent at when due. Here are the necessary things you need to know about the rent and deposit. Rent per month is £320{ includes all bills : water, gas, council tax, TV license and wireless Internet} also Security deposit of £600 protected by the Tenancy Deposit Protection Scheme and it's refundable after end of your stay in my flat. Dss is acceptable but you will need to make a deposit upfront.

However, i need to know some details about you. Can you keep my flat clean and tidy? Do you have references in Bristol? The flat is new and all the facilities present are all new so i am looking for a responsible and clean tenant.

I am reliable and open. If anything is wrong with the flat, i makes sure the problem is quickly rectified. I have been disappointed lately with unserious interested candidate when it comes to viewing or reservation so i will appreciate your sincere reply.

Hope to read from you soon and i would like to know where you are coming from to stay in my flat.

Regards
Mr/Mrs Kelvin

Apart from being similarly worded emails and both ending Mr/Mrs. These just seem like they are diggin for information which should not be devulaged so easily.

Does anyone think their scams or should I see where things go?

I have not reformated the emails so they are as they were sent

Yes very much so. When we were looking and used a certain site I had emails very similar in wording to this, I played along got photos (they were amazing) then come the punch line, I could only 'view' after I had paid the deposit.

    Please stay away

given the standard of English grammar I did not bother reading beyond the second line before deciding this was a SCAM

too bad for those LL who have English as a second language and can write coherently, but this screams scam - I am surprised you even bothered to ask

I like the fact that they are not sure whether they are a Mr or Mrs.

Go along and offer them a cheque. Ask if you can make it for £1000 for the deposi instead of £600, and they give you the £400 in cash as you are short of cash to buy furniture and today is Sunday.

    Cancel the cheque.
