in Credit cards
Hi folks!
Can anyone advise me how to get a credit card? According to Experian I have an excellent credit score but my income is fairly low at roughly £14k. I've applied for 2 cards so far and been refused. I'm reluctant to keep applying in case it effects my credit score but can anyone provide advice about where to go for a card?
Thanks in advance

Yet another proof of how worthless CRA's 'scores' are.
£14 is a reasonable salary for a CC. Is it your first credit card? What other history do you have?0 -
2 rejections in a short space of time wont look good on your next application.
Only you and the agency you paid will see that made up number. Lenders do not see it and dont use the same system to rate you. Its a useless number.
Are you on the electoral roll? How long have you been working? Do you have an overdraft? Do you save each month?Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
How is this relevant for a CC application?forgotmyname wrote: »... Do you save each month?0 -

Unless you are applying at the same bank you have savings, they wont know about any savings you have.
savings will help with mortgages, but not so much with unsecured credit0 -
£14'000 isn't so bad. I was accepted for a Barclaycard Platinum a couple of years back when I was working part time and earning around £5'000. I suppose it depends on the lender.
I was also able to get my hands on a Halifax credit card while earning around £8'000 a year later. So I don't think it's your income amount that's the issue unless you're trying to apply for something like an AmEx?0
